How To ... Use Chamomile Essential Oil for Pain and Inflammation

Chamomile Essential Oil
for Pain and Inflammation


German Chamomile essential oil is a natural anti-inflammatory, anti-allergen and is nourishing to itchy skin. It is excellent for chronic tension which results in migraine headaches, insomnia or menopausal problems.It supports the body’s natural response to irritation and injury by clearing heat from the body. This is also why is it known to dispel the emotions of anger and rage and promote peace and patience. German Chamomile also increases regeneration of skin making it a perfect natural remedy for itchy skin, eczema and dermatitis. 
Chamomile essential oil has a strong middle notes that blend well with:
Cedarwood
Clary Sage
Frankincense
Geranium
Lavender
Rose
Marjoram
Neroli
Orange
Rosewood
Ylang Ylang


Pain Relief Oil Blend

This recipe can be used in the Bath or made up in a Massage Oil.  If you need a more topical application a compress can be used on the affected joints to bring pain relief.  Mix the oils and shake well before use.

You will need:

- 6 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil
- 4 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
- 4 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
- 3 drops of Benzoin Essential Oil
- 28ml of base oil


Arthritis Massage Oil Blend

Blend these oils into a carrier oil and gently massage into the area to help relieve pain.

You will need:
- 4 drops of Chamomile Essential Oil
- 15 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- 11 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
- 2 tbsp Carrier Oil


Soothing Balm and Reviving Balm


- Place the shea butter, beeswax and grapeseed oil in the top part of a double boiler, warming slowly over a low heat until they're melted.
- Remove from heat and add the essential oils and vitamin E.
- Pour into an Amber jar.
- Store in a cool, dark place.

You will need:
- 1/4 cup Shea Butter
- 1 tablespoon Beeswax
- 1 Tablespoon Grapeseed Oil 
- 1/4 teaspoon (or 1 capsule) Vitamin E

Soothing Lavender Blend
8 drops Lavender Essential Oil
1 drop Jasmine Essential Oil
1 drop Chamomile Essential Oil

Reviving Peppermint Blend

If you want your balm to be more solid, increase the beeswax, while increasing the oil will make it softer. 

Bath Salts to help ease Headaches

Mix Epsom salt and baking soda together in a bowl using a metal spoon (a wooden spoon will absorb the essential oils)

Drop in the essential oils, placing each drop in its own little spot on top of the salts. Stir until thoroughly mixed.

Store mixture in a dark glass jar. Let cure for at least 24 hours before using. Use about one cup of bath salts per bath.

You will need:
- 3 cups Epsom Salts
- 1/2 cup Baking Soda
- One of the Blends from below

Relaxing Lavender Blend
6 drops Peppermint essential oil
6 drops Lemon essential oil
2 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
2 drops Rosemary essential oil
1 drop Jasmine essential oil
